SBC Awards: tension rising to see who's on target in the Artillery Garden

The clock is ticking down to the prestigious SBC Awards at the Artillery Garden at the Honourable Artillery Company in London on December 5 with anticipation rising among the nominees.

BoyleSports are nominated for the Racing Post-sponsored Racing Bookmaker of the Year award and their digital managing director Eddie Bennett said they were thrilled to be among the finalists.

He added: “Highlights would have to be our disruptive marketing campaigns and announcing our plans to sponsor the Irish Grand National for another three years as well as increasing the prize-money to €500,000.

“We’re proud the BoyleSports Irish Grand National is now one of the most attractive National Hunt races on the calendar and the icing on the cake was witnessing Our Duke win the race ridden by none other than our newly-appointed brand ambassador Robbie Power. Result!”

The category is a competitive affair, with others vying for the title including Fitzdares, Star Sports, William Hill and BetBright.

Bet365 are also in the running for Racing Bookmaker of the Year along with the overall Bookmaker of the Year, which they won last year.

They are also nominated in two other categories – Football and Mobile Bookmaker of the Year.

‘A host of awards’

Bet365’s James Woods said: “Bet365 are delighted again to be nominated for a series of categories at this year’s prestigious SBC awards.

“The event marks the end of a very busy year, with a host of awards to recognise those who continue to support and innovate within the industry.”

The awards continue to grow year-on-year with 28 categories split into 11 awards for operators/affiliates and 17 supplier awards.

Pinnacle are up for four of the 11 operator awards, and their marketing director Harry Lang said: “The whole team at Pinnacle is delighted we’ve been nominated in four categories at this year’s SBC Awards, including the big one – Bookmaker of the Year.

“With our new eSports Hub recently live and approaching our ten-millionth eSports bet, I’m hoping we can also retain the eSports Bookmaker of the Year title we won last year.”

‘We have our fingers crossed’

It is not just the established operators who are getting involved but rising stars across the industry.

Simona Pinterova, PR & marketing manager for EnergyBet, said: “The 2016 SBC Awards were one of the highlights of our year, with EnergyBet winning the Rising Star in Sports Betting award, so we’re more than a little excited about this year’s event!

“EnergyPartners is nominated for Best Affiliate Partner Scheme, so we have our fingers crossed.”

LeoVegas are another up-and-comer in the industry and are nominated for the Rising Star in Sports Betting award.

Head of communications Roderick Spiteri said: “We’re delighted to be shortlisted in three different categories at the SBC 2017 Awards. It’s an honour to be among the shortlisted operators in two sporting categories – the Rising Star in Sports Betting and the Mobile Bookmaker of the Year.

“These two categories really identify what we’re trying to achieve with LeoVegas Sport – to be the best newcomer in the sports betting arena by offering the best mobile bookmaker experience.”

Alongside the awards, three new names will be added to the SBC Sports Betting Hall of Fame to join last year’s inductees Carsten Koerl, Mark Blandford and Howard Chisholm.
