Talking ICE London with Sam Houlding

Sam Houlding, the chief commercial officer of Spotlight Sports Group provides his thoughts on what to expect from Spotlight Sports Group and others at this year’s ICE London conference.

As ICE London is nearly upon us, just how excited are you to get back to the ExCel for this year’s conference?

ICE is always one of the main highlights in the calendar year for our B2B business. Quite simply it is an occasion that gets a huge global footfall and allows our business to have so many different and interesting conversations. The connections made with new and existing business partnerships across the three days are unlike any other event in the year. We’re all very excited to be back for this year.

ICE has always been an international show and in recent years the key focus for a lot of the industry has been stateside. Are you expecting a lot of US arrivals to the show this year?

In all honesty, I think as the US marketplace has matured so much in the last few years and businesses have evolved into very complete, separate entities stateside, more dialogue remains stateside and there is less transatlantic crossover as there was in the first few years.

I am sure there’ll be lots of US arrivals and conversations at ICE and it will remain a key place to hold US business conversations, but I don’t expect that to dominate the focus as there are a huge number of international conversations outside of the US as well. That is why ICE is so great; it remains the leading conference in bringing together the global gaming industry.

Finally, what do you think sets Spotlight Sports Group apart from the other 650+ exhibitors?

Our deep heritage and specialism as both a content provider and sports betting affiliate. We can reach further than any other company when it comes to producing in-house international content and understanding how to couple that most effectively with sports betting affiliation.
